Isla La Blanquilla is a small, uninhabited island located in the Caribbean Sea, about 120 km northeast of Venezuela and 48 km southeast of Isla de Margarita. The island covers an area of approximately 64 km² and is characterized by its powdery white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and a diverse marine life that attracts snorkelers and scuba divers from around the world.
The island is a popular destination among boaters, who often visit the island for day trips or overnight stays. However, visitors must obtain authorization from the Venezuelan authorities to visit La Blanquilla.
Despite its natural beauty, the island has been the subject of disputes in the past, as both Venezuela and nearby island nations, such as the Netherlands Antilles, have claimed ownership of the island. Nevertheless, it remains an attractive destination for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path Caribbean experience.
